The Asia Airline Booking & Payment Summit 2010, with a focus on mobile booking and payment in Asia airline industry, will be held on the 18th – 19th of November in Shanghai, China.
Asian airlines are taking steps to develop an effective online sales model to reduce the traditional distribution costs and build passenger loyalty. This model should be supported by reliable and secured payment solutions. As more airlines reach out to potential travelers through interactive value added websites and get more passengers to purchase online, third party payment providers have taken advantage of this by working closely with airlines to support effective payment methods.
In 2008, it is reported that online ticket purchases in China was less than 10% of all ticket purchases, but with an improvement in payment strategies since 2009, the figures have been rising. We held the last summit with the focus on exploring the growing market for payment solutions in China’s airline industry. This year, Spring Airlines introduced “palm spring” which has a good response, and Air China launched Air China mobile phone platform to promote mobile phone booking and payment. May this year, Emirates Airlines launched their mobile phone booking as well. Hence, it can be seen that mobile booking and payment is a new trend in the Asia aviation industry.
